Jasmine Latka is a multi-disciplinary artist and designer based in Leeds, UK, whose practice centres collage as both a medium and approach to making. She has recently drawn inspiration from her Polish heritage and the traditional craft of papercutting (wycinanki). Her intuitive cutting process continues to reveal yonic forms, creating queered, devotional studies of the feminine: portals of creation, pleasure, and renewal.
Working from her studio in a former textile mill, Latka allows her surroundings to collage into her practice, prompting a recent exploration of textiles. Translating papercut forms into fabric cushions, she contemplates ‘soft armour’ and the sense of home, both lived and felt. Her cushion series serve as tactile shrines, honouring pause and play.
Latka has contributed to several editorial projects and is currently producing cover art for a feminist memoir releasing this Autumn. Her work has been exhibited across Europe.
